Muscle Therapy Process - Step 4:Keeping him this way

Step 4 - Keeping him this way

One of the key elements to our philosophy at Samsara is preventing problems occurring in the first place and if they do occur then sorting them out as soon as possible before they become bigger problems. 80% of the battle is excellent nutrition and a healthy digestive system (see Teeth, Regular Checks). By far the majority of problems with a horse that is well-nourished and looked after is with the muscular system. If you wait until the horse is lame you have a much bigger problem to sort out. To be effective you need to be finely tuned to what your horse normally does so that you can notice even the slightest differences in performance or behaviour which might indicate the start of a problem. The solution might be a therapy but it might also be rest or just training in a particular way that takes account of the problem. Without awareness though you cannot even start and this is not as easy as it sounds. Horses are not like people and don't get grumpy because they got out of bed the wrong side. If something has changed in the way your horse is behaving there is a reason for it and the quicker you can find it the quicker you can treat it. Not only is this way of working kinder to the horse it is also far cheaper and far less painful for all and it isn't rocket science. You may not know exactly how to solve the problem but then that is what we are here for and we are more than happy for people to come and visit us to see and learn what we do.
